The Importance Of Eating Disorder Rehabilitation Centers

Eating Disorders No Comments »

Eating disorders are dangerous diseases.

Whether you or someone you know is experiencing anorexia nervosa, bulimia, or overeating, the dangers of these disorders are extreme.

They can cause malnutrition, heart problems, and even death.

Some people think that death only happens in extreme instances, but death is a common end for people with severe eating disorders.

If you or someone you know needs help, the best way to get it is to go to an eating disorder rehabilitation center. Eating disorder rehabilitation centers are extremely important in the process of rehabilitating someone from their eating disorder.

What An Eating Disorder Rehabilitation Center Is

An eating disorder rehabilitation center is much like a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center.

When a patient is sent there or voluntarily goes there, they are under constant supervision. There are counselors and food technicians on sight.

There are also doctors and nurses there. If the patient refuses to eat in this facility, they can be given IV fluids and nutrients to keep them alive.

Eating disorder rehabilitation centers offer services like individual therapy and group therapy.

Often times in order to treat anorexia and bulimia the patient needs to begin to feel good about him or herself.

The bottom line cause for anorexia and bulimia is usually a psychological aspect. These people have distorted perceptions of what they look like.

Even if they are skin and bones, they will honestly and truly believe that they are morbidly obese.

In order to combat this and regain a normal life, the psychological aspect must be addressed.

Who Needs An Eating Disorder Rehabilitation Center

Eating disorder rehabilitation centers are not for everyone.

Eating disorder rehabilitation centers are serious centers for people with serious eating disorders.

These are for men and women (and girls and boys), who have disorders that are causing them to harm themselves.

Because these centers have around the clock supervision and help, they are great for people who have suffered from eating disorders for many years.

Sometimes it is impossible to simply help your family member or friend to “get over” their eating disorder and they really do need the intense help that an eating disorder rehabilitation center can offer.

If this is the case, then you need to talk to your family member or friend and see how willing they are to enter a treatment facility.

In most cases, it has to be a voluntary admission. However, if the child is underage, you may be able to forcibly admit him or her.

What To Expect From An Eating Disorder Quiz

Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Eating Disorders No Comments »

An eating disorder quiz is something that can be taken personally or facilitated by a qualified professional.

Eating disorders stem from a lot of things, most especially pressure to appear thin or to maintain one’s weight.

An eating disorder quiz may be given to people who think they may have an eating disorder but the key is to answer the eating disorder quiz honestly.

Answering honestly may be difficult for those who believe that they are not thin enough to warrant having an eating disorder, which is why the eating disorder quiz should also be followed by a physical examination to diagnose the condition.

Topics In An Eating Disorder Quiz

Most of the questions in an eating disorder quiz may center on the way that a person regards food and their physical appearance.

People with eating disorders often have a love hate relationship with food and are not satisfied with their appearance with regards to being thin, not matter how much weight they have already lost.

The kind of eating disorder the individual is afflicted with may also manifest through the answers that the individual gives the eating disorder quiz.

Other aspects that may appear in such a quiz have something to do with one’s mental state as well as physical state.

Having an eating disorder will affect one’s appearance, not only the weight. The skin, hair and nails are just a few of the parts of the body that are affected by many kinds of eating disorders.

Bodily functions are also delved into when taking an eating disorder quiz.

Having less nutrition will eventually affect the way our bodies function and eventually lead to complications due to improper function.

The mental state of the individual is also extensively covered in an eating disorder quiz.

Depression, listlessness, lack of concentration and irritability are just a few symptoms of having an eating disorder.

These are included in most comprehensive and even common eating disorder quizzes that one might see in magazines, health books and hospital or clinic pamphlets.

Taking an eating disorder quiz may help save a life.

Since eating disorders are not publicly talked about by those who may be suffering from them, those around these individuals need to be supportive and vigilant regarding the physical and mental state of the person.

The one suffering from an eating disorder may deny having one which is why it is important to be patient and persevere.
