How Do I recognize I Could Do With Bulimia Treatment

Bulimia Nervosa, Health and Fitness No Comments »

Considering whether or not you need bulimia treatment is an indication that you want your life back. Bulimia is one of the most undiagnosed conditions because of the fact that sufferers will not admit the problem to anyone, including themselves. By remaining in a state of denial, you give your illness free reign over your life, maybe even to the point of dying. By finally accepting that you have a potential life-threatening situation in your hands, and by trying to find a bulimia treatment, you are most likely to overcome bulimia nervosa in the shortest time possible.

The first thing you now have to do is to actually ascertain that you have bulimia nervosa. There are many indications that can tell you for certain that you have this medical condition. The principal indication of this disease is an unwholesome fixation on your weight. Do you reject your friends’ opinions that you’re not overweight… and perhaps that you might be a little too skinny? Are you constantly disgusted by your own shape and weight? Are you consistently preoccupied with counting every single calorie that enters you body? Maybe you even carry around a little notepad to record your daily calorie intake.

People who suffer from bulimia nervosa also tend to binge on huge quantities of food at one time. Binging often occurs after you don’t eat for long periods of time. After depriving yourself for so long, you probably feel like you have no restraint when it comes to food. After you have binged, you cannot help but to feel guilty; this means that you look for some way to cleanse yourself of all the food you ingested. A common classification of bulimics includes purgers. Here, patients constantly practice self-induced vomiting, misusing laxatives, taking all forms of diuretics and enemas; just so the body releases the food before it is actually ingested. Even if you’re not a “purging” type, you might still be suffering from bulimia nervosa. A lot of bulimics may not induce vomiting, but they still punish themselves after eating. Perhaps you find yourself working out to the point that it’s brutal, or maybe you won’t eat for days after eating a big meal, all because you mentally amplify how many calories you must get rid of.

If you find yourself in this cycle every few days, weeks or months, then you are indeed suffering from this medical condition. It is also commonplace for bulimics to suffer from depression as a result of how much they eat or how much they weigh. Do you find yourself avoiding an event just because food is going to be served?

Bulimics often endure the pain and humiliation of many other medical difficulties as well. If you notice attacks of any of the following conditions, you must seek immediate medical assistance: electrolyte instability and dehydration (as a result of chronic vomiting); routine diarrhea and constipation; lots of sores in your mouth; peptic ulcers; chronic gastric reflux and/or frequently burping and causing a disgusting aftertaste; and a painful swelling of the throat. These are just a few of the common symptoms. You may be suffering from a deadly medical condition. If so, you should look for bulimia treatment today; your life may depend on it.

Bulimics and Pot bellies

Bulimia Nervosa No Comments »

Do you know someone who suffers from bulimia? If so, then you are probably aware of the fact that bulimics often experience bloating. A bloated stomach can make anyone feel self-conscious, but to someone who is receiving bulimia treatment, it is especially traumatic. This causes the purging and binging cycle to continue, each one encouraging the other as the person slowly self-destructs.

There are a lot of self-esteem issues that stem from this type of restraint behavior (such as wishing you were slimmer or needing your stomach to feel empty). Do you actually hate your stomach? Do you obsess about the curve of your abdomen?

During just one sitting, a binger can ingest a remarkable amount of food and drink, but often their conscious minds don’t allow them to consider why their stomachs bloat. For a majority of people, enduring the discomfort of a bloated belly simply means waiting a short period of time for all that food to be digested, and then the bloating is gone. But even that short period of time is too much for a bulimia sufferer to endure; she is too afraid of gaining weight from absorbing calories.

Maybe if you understood the natural physiological reactions that are happening in your body, you would feel the urge to protect your organs rather than destroy them. Therefore, what could be going on inside your stomach really?

For someone who isn’t suffering from bulimia, a distended belly is caused by gases that are trapped in your stomach and/or intestines. Although it can be an uncomfortable feeling, this kind of swelling is harmless and usually very temporary. For women, a bloated belly often signifies water retention, which is a common symptom of menstruation.

Also, bloating is often caused by the infamous cycle of “yo-yo” diets, in which someone experiences weight loss, then weight gain, then weight loss, and so on. These changes in a person’s weight can actually extend the walls of your stomach, so it is now able to stretch out and hold more food.

bulimia sufferers however should ride out the bloated sensation, as this directly correlates to the vast amount of food you consume in any one sitting, in a short space of time. Try to control the desire to binge before you actually get to this point. This may seem unrealistic, but you can maintain your recovery by identifying your triggers. What specifically causes you the desire to binge, and what are some more healthy coping skills you can implement in your moments of weakness?

For most sufferers, this awareness can be brought about by exploring stress and anxiety caused by bloated stomach with an expert who specializes in bulimia treatment. Your counselor can assist you in identifying your personal triggers, and more importantly, can help you learn some healthy coping skills. You will rebuild your self-confidence as you realize your own power. Your success will depend largely on how effectively you can train and sit with this bodily sensation that comes with the negative self hate and guilt…so you can go about healing and preventing a bloated stomach as you gradually recover.

Do you Tolerate Bulimia and Do You Experience a Bloated Abdomen?

Bulimia Nervosa, Health and Fitness No Comments »

For many bulimia sufferers, having a bloated stomach is one of the most distressing signs of the illness. If you are receiving bulimia treatment, or if you have a loved one who is, then you know how dangerous this symptom can be because it usually makes the bulimic wish her stomach was smaller. Therefore, the cycle of purging continues, which in itself is bringing about another onset of a binging episode.

More often than not restraint behavior, such as wanting an empty stomach or shape conscious behavior like wishing for a flatter stomach, comes with a great degree of discomfort. Sadly, it is extremely common for people to feel ugly and unloved because of the way their stomachs look.

Even though you’re probably aware of how much food you eat during one binge, you probably don’t really think about the physical causes of bloating. For a majority of people, enduring the discomfort of a bloated belly simply means waiting a short period of time for all that food to be digested, and then the bloating is gone. Unfortunately, bulimics are terrified of allowing any calories to be absorbed into their bodies, so in their minds, time is not a luxury they can afford.

Maybe if you understood the natural physiological reactions that are happening in your body, you would feel the urge to protect your organs rather than destroy them. Take the time to learn about it: what is really taking place inside your belly?

For someone who isn’t suffering from bulimia, a distended belly is caused by gases that are trapped in your stomach and/or intestines. Although it can be an uncomfortable feeling, this kind of swelling is harmless and usually very temporary. Most women should not worry as water retention, especially just before their menstrual period, is very common.

Sometimes, your weight may fluctuate because you are on a diet one week and off it the next; this constant variation in your weight may result in the walls of your stomach stretching.

It is especially imperative that bulimia sufferers allow the time for bloating to pass, because it is a direct result of the large intake of food all at once. Attempt to work on your recovery before you binge; learn how to combat the cravings and attain some control over your desires. How is this possible? You must learn to recognize what triggers you to binge and purge rather than to select healthy life choices.

For bulimics who wish to learn how to combat against their illness, you should consult a physician or psychologist who is well-versed in bulimia treatment. This way the therapist will not only help you appreciate where you feel you are most vulnerable at, but also give you set of tools and build your confidence to overcome the trigger that causes so many anxieties and starts the vicious cycle again. Your success will depend largely on how effectively you can train and sit with this bodily sensation that comes with the negative self hate and guilt…so you can go about healing and preventing a bloated stomach as you gradually recover.
